Community Rotations

Interns will spend a total of four weeks in community settings. Community rotations cover a wide variety of settings from clinical outpatient to homeless shelters, Johnson Space Center at NASA to WIC. Interns are allowed to choose based on preference as long as all community competencies are met and the sites are available.

Community-based programs: Programs such as WIC and Houston Food Bank are broad based community programs.

Clinical outpatient: MD Anderson and Davita Dialysis are both available as community rotations. These rotations have a strong clinical component and are a good choice for interns who wish to spend additional time in a clinical environment.

Counseling: The Healthy Weigh, and Memorial Hermann Wellness are all programs that offer one-on-one counseling to clients/patients for weight loss, eating disorders, diabetes, cardiovascular rehab, stress management, gastric by-pass surgery etc.
