Welcome to the Texas Obesity Research Center!

Promoting a translational, multidisciplinary, lifespan perspective in obesity research.

Obesity in the industrialized world is called an “epidemic” by scholars, policy makers and lay audiences alike, and is arguably the single most pressing public health challenge facing the US today. The Texas Obesity Research Center aims to foster and promote innovative, translational, and multidisciplinary research to prevent and control obesity.

Backed by leading researchers in their fields and supported by state of the art facilities at the University of Houston, the Texas Obesity Research Center aims to become the foremost research institute on obesity in the nation.
